Having worked in the legal profession for over 30 years I have a sound understanding of the day-to-day management of law firms as well as the importance of meeting clients’ needs and expectations. For the past 15 years I have been actively involved in the operation and growth of Polson McMillan and have seen the firm grow from its inception in 2001, with David Polson as the sole practitioner, through to the firm’s current size. As Practice Manager I manage the administration of the firm working closely with professional staff as well as support staff to facilitate and oversee the smooth and efficient running of the practice. I also work as PA to our Principal Sally McMillan.
In the early years of my career I gained significant experience in both large corporate law firms and boutique firms. This included 4 years at the Dunedin firm of Quelch McKewen Tohill & More (now Solomons) before moving to Wellington in 1989 where over the following 12 years I worked in two large central city law firms (Perry Castle and Morrison Kent) in what was a very diverse and competitive environment. The challenge of being involved in many aspects of law through different departments and roles in very large firms grew me enormously in my career and gave me a real love for what I do and for being part of the legal profession. I returned to Dunedin in 2001 joining David Polson when he commenced sole practice following his move from Oamaru.
Outside of work, I enjoy the wining/dining scene with my husband Bruce and friends, and spending time with our Persian cat, Minnie. I’m an avid armchair sports fan and when I can, play tennis and golf. Bruce and I enjoy travelling New Zealand to visit our wider family, and relaxing and unwinding in Central Otago when time and commitments permit.
