Family & Relationship Property Law * Criminal, Traffic & Regulatory Law * Immigration Law * Education Law * Employment Law
My life as a lawyer began in 1999. Prior to that I studied Arts and Law at Otago University and undertook postgraduate study before deciding that law was where I wanted to be. I love the diversity of work offered in a boutique firm. I specialise in all aspects of Family and Criminal law. I am excited to be building the firm’s Employment Law practice, an area in which I have significant experience, and our Immigration practice.
Following the birth of my third child, I stepped out of practice to take up a teaching position with the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, preparing law graduates for admission to the bar and for practice. It was a rewarding role, and a privilege to support the emergent profession. I am now back in practice and thrilled to be with Polson McMillan.
Outside the office, I am kept busy by my 3 children. You can find me on the sports field cheering loudly (much to my children’s embarrassment as I generally lack a fundamental understanding of the rules!). We like to have fun (dance competitions rate highly), have the house full of people, travel and take road trips. When I’m not doing any of that you might see me out for an early morning run or enjoying a catch up with friends.
I am serving my second term on the Maori Hill School Board of Trustees, some of that time as Chairperson. Over the years I have been engaged with various other community groups in a volunteer capacity all of which I have found to be enriching experiences.
